Hi Everyone,
Well I am about to tell you why I think McCain cannot win the general election.
I say "cannot" partly because this country CANNOT afford more war with more countries causing more anti-American sentiment around the world and that is EXACTLY what we will get with a McCain administration. McCain's M.O. is to rattle the sword at everyone, boost our military spending, and increase our military aggression in the world. He championed the idea of Pre-emptive war long before Bush the lesser was even in the white house.
I also say "cannot" because I am hopeful that the American public CANNOT be duped into believing the MYTH that is John McCain. The media loves to present him as "The Maverick" of the Republican party. The truth is in almost all cases he walked in lock step with Bush and the republican congress in their assault on our democracy and world peace. He acknowledged Global Warming: whoa, what a risky position considering the entire global scientific community agrees it is real.(How does he think his policy of increased military aggression will effect global warming? War is not good for the environment Mr. McCain!) He speaks out against torture; another no brainer. But most of the things he was such a maverick on he has actually flip flopped and gone against his earlier positions. Legislation he co-sponsored, championed, and even drafted with his name he now says he will vote against, things like the DREAM act, the McCain-Feingold finance reform bill, Law of the Sea convention, etc. He was against the Bush tax cuts and now says he will make them permanent, etc, etc.
He is also old, not a great speaker, is well known for his terrible temper, and he advocates staying in Iraq for 100 years and bombing Iran. I think America is tired of this type of leadership and recognizes the need for someone with some diplomatic ability and the mandate to steer this country in a new direction.
Last night I got a call from a friend who said he will not vote for Hillary in the general election. I hear this ALOT. Poppy-cock! Hillary may not be perfect, Obama may not be perfect, but I think when the public sees what a weak candidate McCain is and what a dangerous president he would be they will have no problem checking the box on the Democratic ticket.
The first step to avoiding MORE WAR is to do everything you can to motivate Dems to vote in November regardless of who is on the ticket!!!
Keep this in mind as we watch Hillary and Obama battle it out. Let us unite behind the democrats rather than becoming divided by the battle for the nomination.
United and motivated the Democrats CANNOT lose this November and for the immediate future of our nation and the world the CANNOT afford to lose!

ps, I did not think it would be possible but imagine the conservation of momentum the democrats could have to their advantage if we ended up with a Clinton/Obama ticket! An object in motion will remain in motion....

Danny's endorsement for the Democratic Nomination
Hi everyone,
Well just thought it would be appropriate for me to give you all my endorsement for the democratic primary since California will now be voting in the Super duper Tuesday.
To me the choice is clear. The nation is wounded by the political division caused by the actions of those who recently took over the republican party and this nation's government. We are divided but also we face serious problems: a recession, a horrible lose/lose situation in the middle east, the threat of global warming, etc. To properly deal with these we need some bit of national unity behind some plans that are put forward to actually try and address these problems.
Now I do not think there would be that much difference in the policies put forth by a Clinton administration compared to an Obama Administration. But I believe that nominating Clinton would be like rubbing salt in the wound that has us divided. Think about how divided our nation became when the right went after the Clintons the first time. It was ridiculous. Imagine if Hilary becomes president. The right is just gonna do everything they can to go after her. This is the last thing we need.
Obama on the other hand would be like a healing salve. He actually has the power to inspire people who have not been inspired by politics. He is bringing huge numbers of people into the party: young people (tomorrows leaders and VOTERS), independents, and even republicans who are disillusioned with their party after Bush.
The world of right wing pundits would just go off on Hilary and I think they would be a bit less critical of Obama. There is a serious anti Clinton bias among the right. But the main benefit of running Obama is having someone that can turn out record numbers of voters to the polls. This is the best thing for the democratic party and the country. A higher voter turn out will help restore a bit of our democracy and a high voter turn out will always benefit the democrats. This is why the Republicans do all they can do (ala Karl Rove strategy 101) to suppress voter turn out at the poles.
So lets get an inspirational new voice out there. End some of the divisiveness and bring more new people into the political process. Plus think about how the world would see us if we elected Obama. He is what we need to restore our respect in the world after Bush. Plus it is Black history month so what better way to honor that than to put Obama out their as the democratic nominee.
Of course I will be happy to vote for Clinton when it comes time to vote against McCain or Romney.
Whoever you vote for, just get out there and vote!

Editor - When Arnold Schwarzenegger became governor, he immediately repealed the increase in vehicle registration fee that Gov. Gray Davis had used to help close the budget gap. This returned money to the pockets of Californians with cars (I received a check for $1) and took $4 billion from our state's budget. This is roughly the amount he now wants to cut from our public education.
Faced with a $14 billion budget gap and a "no new taxes" mind-set, Arnold is proposing far reaching and drastic cuts to education, Medi-Cal, state parks, prisons, etc. The economic ramifications will hit the state hard.
I can barely afford to live in California, the state in which I grew up. We had our son with the help of Medi-Cal. It is hard for me to feel empathy for people who complain about a 1.5 percent tax increase on their $100,000 car when there are families that will lose their ability to have a home if these cuts go through.
In order to live in a First World country, with a decent standard of living, we need to be willing to pay for it. My wife is from Germany and there, students go to college for free, moms get paid to stay home with their newborn children, etc. We need to break this ridiculous notion that taxes are bad. You get what you pay for.
