Well,
SO MANY interesting things have happened between the candidates in the past week (May 23rd as I write). There is no way I can cover them all but I will hit on a few key ones that shed light on what kind of people we are dealing with.
First I guess we can start with the three candidates reaction to Bush's assertion that engaging in Diplomacy with Iran amounts to appeasement.
McCain jumped on the bandwagon and started using the talking point to attack Barack calling him naive and inexperienced. (see previous blog on subject). This shows how John McCain does not understand foreign policy.
Hillary, to her credit, made a statement denouncing Bush's comment in front of the Knesset.
Obama talked eloguently for about 15 minutes about his foereign ploicy strategy, why he would use diplomacy, where Bush and McCain have gone dead wrong with foreign policy, etc. Substance! Truth! it was one of his best speeches in my opinion. The pundits still say Obama would be in trouble if McCain wanted to debate foreign policy!!! YOU MUST BE KIDDING! McCain does not even know the difference between Shia and Sunni! He has flip flopped on allsorts of major foreign policy issues. This is a debate I look forward to watching!
Barack is going after McCain which is good to see, we gotta get after him so his free ride can end. He and McCain are very different and I think the American people will have a clear choice. As long as Obama can break through the media love affair with McCain .
Yesterday I heard the classic example of this. McCain, who months ago said he "was proud" of getting his sought after endorsement from John Hagee, now said he renounces Hagee's endorsement. He also did the same with Rod Parsley who's support he sought (McCain also said Parsley was his moral compass and spiritual guide). McCain also asked five top advisors to resign because they were lobbyists.
So instead of the media pointing out
Hillary! Hillary! Still amazing me. First issue is Florida and Michagan. Now let us remember that all the candidates last august SIGNED A PLEDGE NOT to campaign in Michagan and Florida. (remember it was the Republican sate congress and governor that moved the primaries up despite the DNC's warnings not to do so.)
Also Hillary said BEFORE the Florida primary that: It is clear the vote in Florida won't count.
Now Hillary gives speech after speech about how horrible it is that we are not counting these states and she says she is fighting for them because it is a cause she cares a lot about. She even went as far to compare what is happening to the voters in Florida to ZIMBABWE! as well as the 2000 election that failed to count florida votes. Zimbabwe - BAD analagy. 2000 - where were the Clintons when it happened? Also if this issue was so important why did Hillary not speek out when the decision was being made by the DNC. Anyway, we all know why it is important to her now. Now I want any Hillary supporter to explain how this does not call her integrity into question. Changing the rules after the fact so she can win.
Of course another part of her strategy to win is to count Michagan giving ZERO votes to Obama. Realistic? also she is saying that we should elect a nominee based on the popular vote (because that is what she could possible win if you count Michagan as zero for Obama) WHAT! The system of delegates may stink but that is the how we do it! You can't argue that we should change the rules at the end of the game.
Other Hillary tid-bits. Oh - She quoted Karl Rove!!!! As an argument that she is the best candidate she told people in a speech that Karl Rove said she would be the toughest candidate to go against McCain!! Hillary, now I challenge any Hillary supporter to explain how this does not put in question her judgement and grasp on reality! We all know that EVERYTHING Rove says and does is politically motivated and calculated. Don't you think if he says Hillary is the best Democratic candidate to go against McCain that really means he wishes McCain could go up against her rather than Obama.
And while Obama has $30 or 40 million in the bank (average donation $90 - 50% of donations $25!!! that is support of the people, I like that) Hillary is now $30 million in debt and is leaving unpaid bills in her wake.
OK it is now June 3rd and I never finished this blog, I'll post it as is..
